Music that rocks, with a capital R.

Once in a while a track comes along that’s so good that it becomes something of a cultural phenomenon - even if most of us don’t even notice it. Such is the case with Eels, Souljacker Pt1. I was watching The Devil's Rejects the other night and Souljacker started to play - I had to ask myself “how many movies has this track been used in?” I know of at least three – namely, The Devil's Rejects, Hot Fuzz and Rest Stop II, and I’m sure there are probably more.

One of the reasons this song kicks such major booty, is E’s collaboration with John Parish who co-wrote the song. Parish brings a harder rock edge to the Eels sound; his signature is all over the album (or at least the tracks he collaborated on) giving it a louder, tougher feel than the groups previous work.

This track isn’t exactly new, but it’s still one of the best rock tracks I’ve heard for a long time. Call me biased, but it’s no big surprise that you need a Brit to bring rock back to life ;)
